 A clerk must conduct a mandatory recount when the difference between the highest number of votes cast in the election and the next highest number of votes cast in the election is less than or equal to one-half of 1% of the highest number of votes cast in the election (C.R.S. 31-10-1207). Determination of the need for a recount is not made until the canvass has been performed and the election results are deemed to be official.
